Which MOZA steering wheel should you choose?

Choosing the right MOZA steering wheel depends first on platform compatibility and then on the cars you drive. A 280mm Xbox-licensed wheel, a 300mm Formula-style rim and a 325mm full-round wheel offer quite different experiences, even when they fit the same direct drive base. These are the three options currently available from UPSHIFT.

MOZA ESX — £139: Xbox compatibility first

The MOZA ESX is the best choice when the requirement is to use a compatible MOZA wheelbase with Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One. It is officially Xbox-licensed and uses a compact 280mm rim, making it especially attractive as an affordable addition to an Xbox simulator package. Compatibility comes from the licensed wheel attached to the supported wheelbase; swapping to an unlicensed rim does not maintain Xbox support.

UPSHIFT recommends pairing the ESX with the R12 V2 or R16 Ultra. The R16 Ultra is our maximum recommended pairing: higher-torque models can transmit substantial force through the small 280mm rim and are not our recommended combination, even where electronically compatible. Always start with conservative force-feedback settings.

MOZA KS Pro — £319: Formula, GT and prototypes

The MOZA KS Pro uses a 300mm butterfly-style rim for a natural fixed-grip position in modern single-seaters, GT cars and endurance prototypes. Its customisable 2.99-inch HD display, configurable RGB telemetry lighting, numerous controls and forged-carbon magnetic paddles suit racing disciplines where brake bias, traction control and in-car settings change frequently. It is less convenient for hand-over-hand steering than a round rim.

MOZA CS Pro — £319: an adaptable round rim

With its 325mm round microfibre-leather rim, the MOZA CS Pro is the more versatile choice for drivers who switch between GT, touring cars, road cars and rally-style driving. It combines familiar hand-over-hand steering with a 2.99-inch customisable display, rotary and thumb controls, magnetic shifters and dual-clutch paddles. If you only want to own one PC steering wheel across varied disciplines, the CS Pro is worth serious consideration.

Does any MOZA steering wheel make a base Xbox compatible?

No. The MOZA quick release lets supported wheels attach mechanically, but the wheel still needs the correct console licence and electronic support. In this range, the ESX is the Xbox-licensed option. The KS Pro and CS Pro do not independently grant Xbox compatibility. On PC, check supported wheelbase generations and MOZA Pit House functionality; screens, button mapping and lights also depend on the game.

How rim diameter changes the driving experience

A smaller wheel gives quicker hand movements at a fixed steering angle, but it also increases the steering force felt at your hands for the same motor torque. A larger round wheel gives more leverage and room for hand-over-hand inputs, while the butterfly shape suits controlled fixed-grip steering. Choose the wheel around how you actually drive, not just the number of buttons or the appearance of the display.
